November 21st was the day of the opening of the TU Delft Beijing Research Center. NOST was represented by counselor for Science & Technology Jan Reint Smit and Science Attaché David Pho. The opening was an important milestone in the international exposure of TU Delft and strongly intensifies the already long standing relations between TU Delft and Chinese academia and industry.
Preceding to the opening by Professor Rob Fastenau, dean of the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of TU Delft, the director of the Institute of Semiconductors Prof. Jinmin Li appointed Professor Kees Beenakker and Professor Kouchi Zhang of TU Delft as guest professors.
The Beijing Research Center (BRC) is a Beijing-based research branch of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. The Centre will engage mainly in research on Solid State Lighting, a highly energy-efficient technology that will be playing an ever-greater role in the coming decades.
BRC is located in one of the new buildings of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS). It is closely cooperating with this institute.
After the official opening of TUD Beijing Research Center (BRC) on 21st November 2011, a joint evening party was organized, with participation of TUD students from sunrise study tour, TUD-BRC staff, IOS students and staff, and staff from Chinese SSL Alliance (CSA).
