NOST China co-organized the 2nd EU-China Workshop on Joint Research Structures (JRS) in China with the EU Delegation to China, Euraxess Links and the Italian and French embassies. This event was held on 22 November and allowed over 200 European and Chinese researchers and policy makers to share experiences about establishing and organizing joint research structures, such as centers, institutes or labs in China.
Practical experiences on topics such as how to select the right research partner, which legal entity to consider and how to deal with IPR, were shared by excellent European and Chinese speakers from public and private joint research centres.
At the same occasion a handbook on “How to Establish a Europe-China Joint Research Structure” was presented which can be downloaded here. This practical handbook lists the following options for legal entities which can be considered to frame the joint research cooperation in China: 1. platform/network without legal status, 2. enterprise, and 3. private, non-enterprise unit.
The workshop was followed by a networking lunch for all participants and by the official launch in China of the new European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 and a general training on how to participate in it.
