On March 24 the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, better known as TNO, signed a contract with the Shenzhen Municipal Design & Research Institute Co. (SMDRI), to assist the Municipality of Shenzhen in building a green, efficient and smart ecocity. TNO has included TU Delft and Kuiper Compagnons in the Dutch consortium for an integrated approach in the development trajectory. The consortium will investigate efficient and environmental-friendly traffic management, sensing system design and green building techniques among others. The project will draw on TNO’s strong expertise in transport & mobility and the built environment. Shenzhen has been working closely with world-leading universities, research institutes and companies from The Netherlands with the aim of developing a ‘low-carbon zone’ with Dutch expertise.
