Yesterday the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) hosted the first day of the Urban Systems and Environment workshop as part of its ongoing collaboration with the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou. The two universities established a joint research centre in November 2012, and have organized workshops on a regular basis to discuss project results. This edition is held in Delft, while the previous workshop was held in Guangzhou.
The workshop brought together researchers from architecture and the built environment; technology, policy and management, civil engineering; transport and material science. This interdisciplinary team focuses on creating a high quality living environment through smart urban systems, infrastructure and planning. Outside expertise was brought in through presentations by Arup Netherlands, Mecanoo Architects and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.
