On March 30, Cyberport, Hong Kong’s ICT hub, will play host to government, academic and industry experts in the field of cloud computing for the Next Generation Information Technology and Standard Symposium.
Mainland China’s market for cloud computing services is expected to attain RMB 94.9 billion this year. As one of the seven strategic emerging industries, the government is pouring investments into several cloud computing bases, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou just to name a few. The symposium will mainly address the issue of standardization in this emerging industry.
At the same time, Hong Kong is also proving to be an attractive location for data centers, many of them also for providing cloud services. Google announced a 300 mln USD facility in Hong Kong only last year.
