We look back at a very successful China Shanghai International Technology Fair 2017 (CSITF)! CSITF is the most important national level technology fair in China and this year the Netherlands was Guest Country of Honor.
Innovation Missions with Minister for Agriculture Martijn van Dam
Around 40 Dutch companies and knowledge institutes participated in one of the three innovation missions on the special occasion of CSITF, led by Minister for Agriculture Martijn van Dam. Minister van Dam led three innovation missions on the themes Agriculture, Chemistry and Green Technologies. Also High Tech Systems & Materials was an important sector present at CSITF.
CSITF
CSITF took place from April 20 until April 22. Minister for Agriculture, Martijn van Dam, officially opened the CSITF and held a keynote speech at the opening forum. During his speech, he emphasized the possibilities for cooperation between the Netherlands and China. “China is developing very quickly, but also encountering many challenges. Dutch companies have innovative solutions which can help face these challenges. This year, the Netherlands is the Guest Country of Honour. The Dutch would be nowhere without innovation, driven by collaboration among companies, knowledge institutions and government. That is why it is important that China and the Netherlands continue working and innovating together” (read the full text here).
At CSITF, the Minister for Agriculture Martijn van Dam attended several activities. Besides, several high Chinese officials were interested in meeting the Minister, accompanied by the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, Anneke Adema. Han Zheng, Party Secretary of Shanghai, Ying Yong, mayor of Shanghai, Fang Aiqing, Vice Minister of Commerce, Li Meng, Vice Minister of S&T and many more Chinese officials met with Minister van Dam and the Consul General at the Holland Innovation Pavilion.
Holland Innovation Pavilion
26 companies presented themselves at a big, sustainable designed and well-visited Holland Innovation Pavilion. Aside the visit of Chinese and Dutch officials, the Holland Innovation Pavilion was visited by press and technology experts. Dutch companies, universities and institutes presented themselves as innovative collaboration partners and knowledge providers in the Chinese market. Besides large and well-known companies such as Philips, DSM, NXP and AkzoNobel, the pavilion also gave a stage for startups. Overall the Holland Innovation Pavilion presented the Netherlands as a high-tech, innovative and cooperation-driven country.
Companies enjoyed many network opportunities at the Holland Innovation Pavilion. Besides, a special matchmaking event was organised on Thursday afternoon, with interesting opportunities for even more Sino-Dutch cooperation
in the field of innovation.

As Guest Country of Honor, the Netherlands organised different seminars and symposia in the field of Intellectual Property Management & Open Innovation, High Tech Systems and Materials, Sustainable Agricultural and Food Technologies, Green Technologies and Chemistry. and College of Agriculture and Biology of Shanghai Jiaotong University including a site visit - Seminar on Solar Energy and Air Pollution Monitoring

- Seminar on Advanced Materials Functionality and High Precision Manufacturing with the Shanghai Additive Manufacturing Association
- Global Roadmap for Integrated Photonics Roundtable with Shanghai Association for Science and Technology
- IP management and Open Innovation Symposium, with Zhejiang University School of Management, institute of IP management and the Pudong IP bureau of Shanghai
- Sustainable Agricultural and Food Technologies with the Shanghai Municipal Agricultural Commission
- Global Innovation Cities with Rotterdam Partners and Rotterdam Commercial Representative Office
