Researchers at Teijin Aramid (Netherlands) and Rice University (USA) published their research on a new generation of super fibres in the leading scientific journal Science.
For the first time in history it is possible to spin carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into a fibre that has very high thermal and electrical conductivity as well as good textile properties.
“This new combination of properties makes it possible for CNT fibres to be used in many fields such as aerospace, automotive, medical, and (smart) clothing,” says Marcin Otto, business development manager at Teijin Aramid.
Teijin Aramid is implementing the project in collaboration with the research groups of Professor Matteo Pasquali and Professor June Kono at Rice University (Houston, USA) and related research from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel) and the US Air Force Research Laboratory (Dayton, USA).
