The 2013 edition of the World Intellectual Property Indicators published early this week shows that in 2012, for the first time, residents of China filed the largest number of patents throughout the world. The report also indicates that China has become the main driver for global IP growth. The State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) was the only patent office worldwide recorded with double-digit growth for each of the four types of IP (patents, utility models, trademarks and industrial designs). In terms of technology field, Chinese residence filed most of their patents on material metallurgy technologies. Read more here.
