Last Monday NOST paid a visit to the China Technical Association of Paper Industry (CTAPI), where Jaap van Etten and Jingmin Kan were received by President Chen and vice President Kuang.
CTAPI is China’s largest state-owned agency serving China’s paper industry; and functions under the supervision of the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) and the China National Light Industry Council (CNLIC).
CTAPI has 5 standing committees and 14 technical commissions. CTAPI has 18,000 members around China.
The meeting was an interesting discussion on bio-based refinery principles within the paper industry. Having bio-based processes that use less energy, less water, are less or not polluting at all, and find means to convert all the recycled pulp into various materials.
